Asahiflex IIa

1954–1956 SLR Discontinued

The Asahiflex II series represents the pinnacle of Asahi Optical Co.'s early camera engineering, produced between 1954 and 1957. Building upon the chassis of the experimental Model I, the Asahiflex II became a massive global commercial success. It is celebrated as the platform that popularized the instant-return mirror mechanism worldwide, permanently curing the "viewfinder blackout" problem that had plagued previous single-lens reflex designs.
