Reuse

Checked 21 October 2026

Kodak says whether Kodak XTOL may be reused depends on how it is used.

  • stock may be reused
  • 1+1 use once
  • 1+2 use once
  • 1+3 use once

Longer time for reuse: Rolls 1-5 per litre at the normal time; rolls 6-10 +15 %; rolls 11-15 another +15 % on the adjusted time; discard after 15 rolls per litre.

Capacity, as the maker states it: Full strength, unreplenished: about 15 rolls of 135-36 or 120 per litre, then discard. Diluted 1:1: one batch only.

The capacity of the full-strength developer with normal, unreplenished processing is approximately 15 rolls of 135-36 or 120 film (80 square inches [516 square centimetres]) per litre, with time compensation. ... Discard the developer after you process 15 rolls of film per litre. ... Use diluted developer only once. Do not replenish or reuse diluted developer. ... If you use XTOL Developer diluted 1:1, dilute it just before you use it, and discard it after processing one batch of film.

A dash means the figure has not been read off the maker’s sheet. A guess here would produce wrong answers silently.

Know a time for XTOL that is missing here, or spotted one that is wrong? Tell us, with the source, and a curator will check it.

  • Sources only. We publish a time only when it has been read off a primary source: the maker’s datasheet or chart. A link to it is what lets us check yours.
  • Nothing goes up by itself. Every report is read by a person before anything on the page changes.
  • No account needed. Your name and email are optional, and only to reply to you.
What would you like to send?

A datasheet, the maker’s chart or technical publication. Forums and blogs can’t be checked the same way.
