The Asahi Pentax S2 Super is a fully mechanical, interchangeable-lens 35mm SLR camera produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market from 1962 to 1968. Built on the iconic M42 screw mount, it was created to replace the export-only S1 and S1a models within Japan. It combined the clean, meterless aesthetic of earlier S-series bodies with upgraded internals, featuring an auto-resetting frame counter and an upgraded focal-plane shutter that topped out at a fast 1/1000th of a second.
