This policy is about 35mm.org Pinhole Calc for iPhone and iPad (“the app”). The app has no account and no tracking, and collects nothing about you. This page says exactly what that means.

The short version

  • No account, no sign-in, no advertising, no analytics and no third-party tools in the app.
  • The camera’s picture is used only to read the exposure on the phone. It is never recorded, saved or sent.
  • Your saved cameras and your exposure log are files on your phone. Deleting the app deletes them.
  • The only request the app can make is an optional check for new film data on 35mm.org. It is off until you turn it on, and it sends nothing about you.
  • Notifications are made by the phone itself, when a timer ends.

Who we are

The app is made by the people who run 35mm.org. A contact address for questions about your data will be published here.

What stays on your phone

Your saved camera profiles (distance, format, hole and the choices you made) and your exposure log are files on your phone. None of it is sent to us. Deleting a profile, clearing the log or deleting the app removes them, and we hold no copy.

Share writes a CSV file of the exposure log only when you tap it, and hands it to the app you choose. The app does not send it anywhere itself.

The camera

The light meter uses the camera to read how bright the scene is. The picture is processed on the phone to get that one number: it is not recorded, not saved, not sent and not shown to anyone. The app works without camera access: you can enter the EV or pick the conditions instead.

Measuring a hole

To measure a hole from a scan, you choose a picture with the system photo picker. The app reads the picture on the phone and does not keep it. It never sees the rest of your photos.

What the app sends to 35mm.org

The app can check 35mm.org for new film data with one request, GET /api/v1/catalogue. The check is off by default and you turn it on yourself. The request carries no account, no identifier and nothing about you beyond what any web request carries, such as the address it comes from, so that the answer can find its way back.

How 35mm.org handles an ordinary visit is described in the privacy notice of the website.

Notifications

When a timer ends while the phone is locked, the app asks the phone to show a notification. It is made on the phone. 35mm.org does not send you notifications, and the app does not use a push service.

No tracking

The app has no advertising, no analytics, no tracking and no third-party SDKs, and it links nothing to you or to your device.

Children

The app collects no personal information, so it can be used by anyone interested in photography, children included.

Your rights

Because the app keeps everything on your phone and we hold nothing that identifies you, there is little for us to show or delete. You may ask us anything about this: we answer within a month, free of charge. You can also complain to the data protection authority in the country where you live or work.

Changes

When we change this policy we change the date at the top. If the app starts to send anything more than is described here, this page will say so before that version is released.
